English Tradition

Sparkling Dry Cider

A dry cider with character made with wild crab apples. Wickson, Whitney, Chestnut and Dolgo crab apples are well known for contributing to cider that provides a memorable drinking experience. Aged for months in neutral white oak casks, this naturally sparkling heritage dry cider is bright with taste and character.

Madeira Cask

Still Cider Aged in Madeira Casks

A semi-dry sparkling cider which has been aged for months in Portuguese Madeira wine casks. The Madeira casks impart darker color, medium-rich texture and depth of flavor. The roots of the Madeira wine industry date back to the age of exploration, when the Isle of Madeira was a regular port of call for ships traveling to the East Indies. Madeira was a popular wine in colonial America.

“Aroma right off the bat told me I was not in Kansas. Only a quality apple that has gone thru a meticulous fermentation produces that on the nose. I truly enjoyed the mouth feel up front and the backside produced a pleasant tannin finish. Unlike most of the modern ciders parading around, there is no gimmick here. Heritage and heirloom apples can only display some of these characteristics. Turncoat Cidery has produced a winner in my book. A real deal pomological pleaser right up there with Farnum Hill and Albemarle Ciders. I truly look forward to trying the other blends. It’s all in the Apple and the terroir in which provides its nourishment. Fox Hill Farm provides all that and more. A story!”
